Located in the east of the island,  Suwehan Beach  is a real nugget almost unknown to the many tourists who visit Nusa Penida. Nestled south of Atuh Beach, it will offer you a haven of peace and tranquility away from prying eyes. What to do in Nusa Penida  ? Follow us, we’ll take you to discover this little-known place for holidaymakers.

Visit Suwehan Beach, one of the most beautiful beaches in Nusa Penida

Enjoy the calm and ocean scenery available to you while visiting Suwehan Beach. It is one of the most beautiful beaches on the island which stretches for about 400 meters in length. Previously, this beach was accessible via a rather precarious staircase, but the earthquakes in Lombok during the summer of 2018 completely destroyed it. At the end of the same year, the locals rebuilt it. This is to the delight of tourists. From now on, descend 340 steps to access Suwehan Beach. It will take you about twenty minutes, taking the time to admire the view. It is impossible to descend the stairs headlong without taking the time to observe the spectacle before you. Seen from above, it is simply amazing! Once downstairs, you will have to pass through a pile of rocks before reaching the beach. All you have to do is relax on the sand. Perhaps you will have the opportunity to see a turtle swimming in the surrounding waters? Do not hesitate to bathe and swim to the famous jagged rock located in the center of the water, a few meters from the shore.

When to go to Suwehan Beach?

The best time to go there is at low tide. Indeed, if you go there at high tide, the beach will be greatly reduced. In addition, you will not have the chance to swim to the jagged rock which will be far too far from the beach.

During the day, it is advisable to get there before noon. The beach is exposed to the East, at the foot of a huge cliff which overhangs it. You will have understood: by going there in the afternoon, you will be in the shade and it will be less pleasant. Especially if you want to immortalize the moment by taking pictures!

Regarding the tourist influx, know that Suwehan Beach is one of the most beautiful beaches on the island, but also the least visited! Surprising when you see how absolutely gorgeous she is!

How to get to Suwehan Beach?

You’ll think we’re rambling, but once again, scooter is the best way to get to Suwehan Beach. As usual, there is no need to remind you that the roads are in poor condition and rather dangerous. Take your time and drive carefully. Once you get near the beach, you will spot a warung run by an Indonesian family. Park here, there are no parking fees. Before descending, we can only advise you to spend some time at the top of the cliff to admire the spectacle that awaits you.

Visit Suwehan Beach, any last advice?

As we indicated above, it is advisable to visit this beach at low tide. I would even go so far as to say that when the tide comes in, you don’t have to hang around packing your things and going up. Indeed, the tide rises quickly. The waves can be quite surprising, even violent.
